Another IM solution for your iPhone and browser: eBuddy
18th Jul 2007 - Josh Lowensohn
eBuddy is a strange mix of a typical Web company. While the lowercase "e" in front of the name might suggest it's a survivor of the early 1990s dot-com boom, it actually started out in 2003 and resides not in the Silicon Valley, but Amsterdam. It's also one of the few companies I've seen that has put almost its entire press kit on Flickr. eBuddy specializes in Web-based IM, which might sound familiar if you've ever used Meebo or the Web version of your favorite chat client. eBuddy works with three of the major clients, including AIM, MSN, and Yahoo. The latest release, which came earlier this month, runs all three at once.Download: webware.pdf

eBuddy Launches Mobile App
01st May 2007 - Katie Fehrenbacher
eBuddy, the Amsterdam-based IM aggregator, is turning 3 years old this week a respectable middle age in the web startup world. And while I wouldnt go as far as saying theres a mid-life crisis coming, since the company became profitable and brought in 10.3 million unique monthly visitors to its web service as of March, the company is definitely working hard to grow and differentiate itself particularly from fast growing Silicon Valley based IM competitor Meebo.Download: GigaOMarticle01.pdf
eBuddy launches two new betas
26th Apr 2007 - Allen Stern
eBuddy has launched two new Beta programs today. Their new Mobile Messenger and Web Messenger have moved into Beta. I have played around with the Web version a bit and it is pretty sweet. Usually these online chat apps are average or on par with the master app itself, but the new eBuddy seems to be even more robust than using AIM standalone. Appears to work very smoothly and I will have a more detailed review in a couple of days.Download: CNarticle.pdf

Europe's Next Net Giants?
01st Jul 2006 - Red Herring The Bussiness of Technology, by M
It's feeling like 1999 again in Europe. Hopeful young entrepreneurs are deserting consulting jobs to start Internet companies with funny-sounding names. VCs are initiating bidding wars for companies that appear to shoot out of nowhere. Could it be the "next bubble?" And will the few good companies move to the United States, denying Europe a technology success story once again?... Not if Europes next-generation Internet entrepreneurs have their way. A group of seasoned entrepreneursmany who earned their stripes before the dot-com crashare launching Web 2.0 companies. But instead of throwing lavish parties and upping the burn rate, these CEOs brag about organic growth and viral marketing. Many keep their costs down by making use of usergenerated content and open-source software. Startup talent is tapped wherever they find it, in a kind of distributed employment model.Download: RED_HERRING.pdf
