The question's in the subject, really. Locus has dubbed it literary fantasy. I read it recently and didn't find any fantasy or supernatural elements in it. True, there are a lot of mysterious issues, but in the end there's a mundane explanation for everything, and what could have been a fantasy simply ends up as a solved mystery.... more »

Ignoring DOUBLE STAR (Heinlein), Piper's Federation (I think and the legislature was never on stage that I recall) and Weber Manticoran novels, can anyone name an SF novel with a Parliament like Canada's or the UK's, particularly one where the goings on in Parliament actually matter to the plot of the book?... more »
