orkut doesn't support email addresses that contain punctuation or special characters. If your primary email address for your orkut profile contains this type of character, you won't be able to receive email messages sent through the orkut system.

If your current email address contains accents or other special characters and you wish to receive future messages sent through orkut.com, please change your primary email address:

1. Click edit profile below your picture.
2. Click the contact tab on the top of the page.
3. Click edit below your current email address.
4. Enter your preferred primary email address and click update.
5. An email change confirmation will be sent to your new primary email account. To complete the change, please click the link in that email.

Please note: Make sure you include all of your email addresses in the secondary email fields to ensure that messages sent to your alternate accounts reach you. Don't worry, these additional email addresses won't be visible to other orkut members.
