Because this is such a large, high-traffic group and so many people receive the Daily Digest, there is a little more housekeeping needed here than on other, smaller groups. We may return posts or remove graphic elements to make them more legible and understood both in the Digest and on the site.

Here a few rules and guidelines for communication on the site that will help keep the group tidy and productive. Please read these guidelines carefully before posting.



Health & Fitness Questions

Special K ® is a moderated group. We strive to provide a helpful, supportive forum for weight loss and The Special K Challenge™. While these topics may at times encompass discussions of other issues, these should remain rooted to the purpose of the site, and respectful at all times. The moderator reserves the right to stop all non-constructive discussions and debates.

If a user posts to the group frequently with inappropriate messages in tone or content, the moderator will reject posts, issue warnings, or ban members from the list if abuse continues. By subscribing to the Special K ® group, you specifically agree to the rules and guidelines and the terms for removal.

  • Attacking or harassing a group or individuals is against our Terms of Service. If you wouldn’t say it in person, don’t say it online.
  • Do not incite negative debates. If you are discussing a heated and/or off-topic issue with another member, take it off-group to email.
  • Please do not use this space for forwarded emails, chain letters, or spam.
  • Do not post auto-replies-- set your preferences to “Web Only” during vacations.
  • Please avoid listing private information such as addresses and phone numbers in group emails.
  • Please do not post with attachments, images, or additional HTML in your message. Due to the size of the group, many people read the digest and these items appear in the digest as code. Attachments, images and extra HTML will be removed  before a post goes live
  • Do not post in all capital letters.   It's considered "shouting" online.

The Basics

  • If you want to ask a question, search the Yahoo message archives first to see if there is already an answer posted.
  • Read the materials on the Special K ® group home page for information before posting a question.
  • Please post a message to the group if you have a general dieting or Special K ® related question or comment.
  •  Words of encouragement (“Great Job!” “Thank You!” “I agree!”) are always welcome. However, if you'd like to start a personal dialog with one member, it's best to send mail directly to the individual rather than the entire group. This will help the group discussion flow smoothly.
  • As a best practice, please include a brief (1-2 lines) quote from a previous post if you are replying to a previous thread in order to maintain context.  Please do take the time to edit the quoted section to cut down on message "clutter".
  • Be respectful of other viewpoints. A bit of debate is healthy, but we all deserve to feel safe and respected here.
  • Be courteous. Remember that behind every username is a real person. Treat others as you'd like to be treated.  
  • When replying within a message thread, keep your subject header the same.
  • Keep replies on topic and as concise as possible. If you would like to discuss a different subject than what you are replying to, start a new message thread.
  • Check spelling, grammar and paragraph breaks before posting.
  • Familiarize yourself with Yahoo! Groups' Guidelines and Yahoo!'s Terms of Service.
