Description
The 2008 Canadian National Fish Carving Championships recently selected this outstanding "Apache Trout" by FC2 Oregon member, Ed Barrett as their BEST OF SHOW. We salute Ed for raising standards by his superb example of the fish-carving arts. Well done, Sir!
GROUP INTRODUCTION:
"What you find in the waters, WE find in the woods!"
This very active international group of over 500 carvers ranks in the top 2% of Yahoo Groups and is dedicated to the artistic replication of all species of fish in wood using a variety of hand & power tools, plus hand & power painting methods.
Members from more than 23 nations make up Fishcarving2 where we encourage and invite wood carvers in ALL skill levels from novice to expert. Emphasis is on realism and covers ALL aspects of the carving arts.
You'll be joining Canadian National & World Fish Carving Champions, plus a host of other World Class carvers from authors, publishers, and columnists to supply company owners, competition judges, carving instructors, etc., all willing to share their expertise with you, "FREE" for the asking. [But you usually DO have to ask so please feel free to join our ongoing information exchange.]
We are proud to have initiated the first "World Fish Carvers Invitational Challenge" which made its debut during the "2005 WORLD FISH CARVING CHAMPIONSHIPS". At the 2007 show members took numerous awards such as Ron Bailey's BEST IN WORLD, 2nd in Open Level-Decorative Lifesize with his Leafy Seadragon. Winners in the 2007 Fish Carvers Invitational are listed in FC2 files.
Three species have been selected for the 2009 World Fish Carving Championships "Invitational Challenge" and will be: Saltwater - Queen Angelfish; Warmwater - Largemouth Bass; Coldwater - Arctic or European Grayling.
The 2009 World Show will be in St. Charles, Missouri, USA. Check your calendar. 2009 is not far away! Let's ALL plan NOW to attend.
If you're interested in the fish-carving arts, please join us today.
