Description
Anything can happen on Nim’s Island, where a feisty young girl (charmingly played by Little Miss Sunshine’s Abigail Breslin) leads an amazing tropical life with her scientist father (a somewhat buttoned down Butler), surrounded by exotic animal friends and inspired by her favorite literary hero: Alex Rover, the world’s greatest adventurer (Butler again, in fine swashbuckling form). So when Nim’s father disappears during a storm, she reaches out to her hero for help.
But what Nim doesn’t know is that the author of the Rover books is, in fact, Alexandra Rover (Foster, whose slapstick antics in this change of pace role will delight her fans), a fainthearted recluse locked away in a big city apartment. As Alexandra nervously ventures forth into the world, and Nim faces her biggest challenge, they both must draw courage from the fictional gallantry of Alex Rover and find strength in one another to save Nim’s Island.
